The Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) Director Nicholas Hilgert participated in the third graduating class for HNP mechanics on September 15.
The 34 graduates in today’s ceremony represent the HNP’s Community Police, the Coast Guard, CIMO, and other units as well as the cities of Croix des Bouquets, Port-de-Paix, Hinche, Fort Liberté et les Cayes. INL helped finance the first graduating class two years ago to help teach HNP mechanics on modern technologies and tools used to repair today’s vehicles. Today’s class brings the total number of mechanics trained to 134. The ceremony was another opportunity to celebrate the close partnership between the United States and Haiti and promote a strong security environment in Haiti.
Other participants included HNP DCA Sonny Noelsaint, Master Mechanic Josué Veillard, Subject Matter Expert for Vehicle Fleet Management Phillipe Arthur, and Director of the HNP School Bernard Elie.
