The Embassy has received reports of police activity, gunshots and heavy traffic at the Gerald Bataille intersection near the airport. At least one casualty has been reported. All U.S. Citizens are advised to avoid this area.

Even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and escalate into violence. You should avoid areas of demonstrations, and exercise caution if in the vicinity of any large gathering, protests, or demonstrations.
