Security Message for U.S. Citizens: Demonstrations in Port-au-Prince. Sent today, Wednesday, September 20 at 11:20AM

The U.S. Embassy informs U.S. citizens of ongoing demonstrations in Port-au-Prince. Reports indicate protestors are moving from the Champs-de-Mars to Bel-Air. There are also reports of groups of demonstrators moving up Route de Delmas in the direction of Petionville. U.S. citizens are advised to avoid these areas. Even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and escalate into violence. You should avoid areas of demonstrations, and exercise caution if in the vicinity of any large gatherings, protests, or demonstrations.
