Security Alert: U.S. Embassy Port-au-Prince, Haiti (March 27, 2019)
Location:
- Boutin neighborhood of Croix de Bouquet
Events: On March 27, at approximately 1130 hours, a third-country diplomat accredited to Haiti was with a group visiting the Boutin neighborhood of Croix des Bouquets. Unknown groups had been firing upon Haitian National Police (HNP) patrols in the area. There is no evidence that the diplomat’s group was targeted in the event, but several individuals were injured. The HNP is currently investigating the incident.
Actions to take:
- Avoid the area;
- Avoid demonstrations and any large gatherings of people;
- Do not attempt to drive through roadblocks; and
- If you encounter a roadblock, turn around and get to a safe area.
