Security Alert: U.S. Embassy Port-au-Prince, Haiti (October 23, 2019)
Location: Reports of protest activity near Carrefour Airport, Petion-ville (near Place Boyer), Rue Panamericaine, and Nazon
Events:
- A group of demonstrators has set up burning barricades at the Overpass intersection of Carrefour Aeroport
- A group of approximately 30 demonstrators marching around Petionville, near Place Boyer
- A cable has been set across the road, on Rue Panaméricaine near the Oasis Hotel, to prevent cars from passing.
- In Nazon, businesses and pedestrians are being attacked by individuals throwing rocks.
Actions to take:
- Avoid the area(s);
- Avoid demonstrations and any large gatherings of people;
- Do not attempt to drive through roadblocks; and
- If you encounter a roadblock, turn around and get to a safe area.
