Security Alert: U.S. Embassy Port-au-Prince, Haiti (May 17, 2021)
Location: Port-au-Prince
Events: There are media reports circulating that groups are calling for protests on Tuesday, May 18th, against the constitutional referendum and kidnapping. Others may be taking to the streets to celebrate Haitian Flag Day. Areas that may be affected include, but are not limited to: Downtown/Champs de Mars, Carrefour Aeroport, Nazon, Lalue, Bourdon, Juvenat, Delmas, and Petionville.
Actions to take:
- Avoid the area;
- Avoid demonstrations and any large gatherings of people;
- Do not attempt to drive through roadblocks; and
- If you encounter a roadblock, turn around and get to a safe area.
