Events: This is an Updated Information Alert: The U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince is not closed, today, August 8, 2023, the Embassy will not be providing services to the public and is open for limited operations only. All personnel are restricted to Embassy compounds until further notice due to gunfire in the vicinity of the Embassy. Travel between the compounds is prohibited. Some routes to the Embassy may be impacted due to continued rapid gunfire.
Actions to take:
- Avoid the area;
- Avoid demonstrations and any large gatherings of people;
- Do not attempt to drive through roadblocks; and
- If you encounter a roadblock, turn around and get to a safe area.
