Events: Currently, there are numerous reports of road blocks, burning tires, and rock throwing in multiple locations throughout the Metropolitan Port-au-Prince area. Please avoid all unnecessary travel and remain vigilant as the security situation is unpredictable.
We remind U.S. Citizens that Haiti has the highest (Level 4) Travel Advisory (“Do Not Travel”) for kidnapping, crime, and civil unrest. The travel advisory for Haiti, available at travel.state.gov, notes that kidnapping is widespread and victims have included U.S. citizens. There is a possibility this could spread to other areas.
Actions to take:
-Avoid areas affected by demonstrations
-Ensure vehicles are refueled, if possible
-Remain vigilant and restrict movements
-Do not attempt to drive through large gatherings or roadblocks
-Ensure communication equipment is functional and correctly programmed
-Enroll in SAFE and monitor your communication devices.
-Report any incident/situation to the RSO
