The U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince has ordered all Embassy personnel and their families to shelter in place, given the intensity of Hurricane Matthew in Haiti. Most of Haiti is under a Hurricane Warning. Shelter in place will be effective Monday, October 3 at 7 a.m. until further notice. The Embassy will be closed for routine services on Monday, October 3, and Tuesday, October 4. All American citizens are strongly advised to shelter in place if they are in a secure location. The American Citizen Services Section of the Embassy will reschedule all appointments for Monday and Tuesday for U.S. Citizens. However, when the Embassy is open, but it is not safe for you to travel to your appointment, please do not attempt to do so.
