Demonstration on Rue Delmas and in Petionville today, November 11, 2016

There are reports of scheduled protests by the CEP and near Place Boyer and on Rue Delmas today from 2PM through the rest of the evening. All U.S. Citizens are advised to avoid the area and to shelter in place at home or the nearest safe location.  Please keep in mind that demonstrations in Haiti, even peaceful ones, can escalate quickly and even turn violent, so the Embassy urges all U.S. citizens to remain vigilant, be aware of their surroundings, and avoid this area as much as possible.  Should you find yourself among or near protesters, depart the area immediately.
