Chargé D’Affaires Brian Shukan visits a community health rally post in Fermathe today to commemorate #WorldImmunizationWeek and the importance of vaccine delivery in Haiti. Immunizations are critical to ending preventable child and maternal deaths in Haiti, and the US government supports the Ministry of Health in their efforts to increase national coverage of all vaccines to at least 95% by 2020.
With community engagement like in Fermathe, we are well on our way. Through USAID project Services de Santé de Qualité pour Haiti (SSQH), financial and technical support from CDC Haiti and thousands of Haitian community health workers, vaccines are given at the facility and community-level. Rally posts, like this one, raise community awareness and increase demand for routine immunization services- in even more remote communities.
